I am confident that, in our society, there has always been opportunities for compassionate outcomes. Therefore, I do feel more can be done for Lucky!
If we want to do right by Lucky, it would help to respect differences - As just differences between the various parties involved.
In our own ways, each party has made specific contributions to Lucky's welfare. More recently, Stephanie's petition and the Examiner's article are to be applauded.
KCRAS has offered support to the owners with resources to help care for and train Lucky, conduct regular welfare visits, and provide training and instruction on responsible pet ownership. That is equally commendable.
What more can we offer?
In spite of any differences and feelings we may have with KCRAS, lets give them the benefit of a doubt, and see what living conditions Lucky will be in this time around. KCRAS cannot achieve it alone. We do the best we can in the various roles we play.
Everyone deserves dignity and respect including Lucky. Working with the owners is not easy - As a group, we have the expert knowledge, manpower and skills with pets to really help out here. Compassionate outcomes are attainable. I hope the efforts and perseverance will lead to a better life for Lucky :)
